Lewis Capaldi is a Scottish singer-songwriter that got his start writing and recording songs in his bedroom, then uploading them to SoundCloud. He later released his first track "Bruises" on March 31, 2017, which gained about 28 million plays on Spotify worldwide, making him the fastest ever unsigned artist to reach 25 million plays on the platform. This quickly got him signed to Capitol Records. Capaldi has become a Top 250 artist on Spotify with almost 32 million current listeners to his songs.

His is debut album, Divinely Inspired to a Hellish Extent, was released on May 17, 2019 and incorporates his various textured vocals into 12 tracks that he co-wrote and features many of his already popular songs. It was recorded over a span of 18 months in London, New York, and Los Angeles. The record includes his breakout single, “Someone You Loved,” which stars Scottish actor and distant cousin to Capaldi, Peter Capaldi, in its music video. It has also reached the top 10 songs of Spotify’s global Top 200.
His blue-eyed soul music includes catchy upbeat tempos and deep swelling piano ballads that are driven to their crescendos by his pained, raspy tone and high, fluttering melodies. His vocals are distinctly mesmerizing and complementary to his expressions of love and loss. His emotional lyrics candidly capture his struggles with his career, with love, and with family.
