Bon Iver is an American indie folk band that was founded by singer-songwriter Justin Vernon in 2006. The band's unique and varying sound has been described as indie folk, folktronica, and chamber pop. Bon Iver's debut album, For Emma, Forever Ago, was released independently in 2007. Vernon recorded the majority of this album isolated in a cabin in Wisconsin.

i,i is Bon Iver's fourth studio album, which was released in August of 2019. The album's theme can be interpreted as an inward reflection, which is in contrast to Bon Iver's third album, 2, A Million, which focuses on Vernon's outward impression of the world. Vernon's pairing of baritone with falsetto creates an encompassing comfort that welcomes and encourages listeners to reflect upon their own relationships.

Hey, Ma

"Hey, Ma" and "U (Man Like)" from the latest album were released on June 3, 2019 as teasers for the upcoming album. “Hey, Ma” is a sentimental piece that evokes nostalgia through childhood imagery and the illustration of his mother’s affection. The incorporation of swelling, impressionistic instrumentation and steady blip driving the song behind Vernon’s earthy and textured vocals creates a simplistic yet effective track. This song quickly gained popularity and has been streamed over 29 million times on Spotify.
