In the spirit of “Storm Area 51 Day,” Foo Fighters have released a special live EP of the band’s June 18, 2005 concert at the Walker Air Force Base in Roswell, New Mexico. The EP, titled 00050525 Live in Roswell, includes seven songs, such as “Monkey Wrench,” “All My Life,” and a 10-minute version of “Stacked Actors.” The original show in 2005 in Roswell, a city also famous for its association with UFO conspiracy theories, was a special 10th anniversary concert that the band invited 500 fans to come out to celebrate the release of their fifth album, In Your Honor. The band’s name also stems from extraterrestrial roots. The term “foo fighters,” was used by Allied aircraft pilots during World War II to refer to UFOs they had reportedly seen.
Storm Area 51 Day, today, September 20, 2019, began as a joke, but soon became a viral meme as it gained views and supporters. Over two million people responded with the intentions of storming the government facility, to which the Air Force issued its serious statement.
